The Seattle Times recently asked a group of 11 high school seniors at Auburn Mountainview High School what they hope to accomplish by the time they’re 30.
Most of the diverse group said they planned to go to college soon after graduation to prepare for careers as diverse as teaching, biomedical equipment repair, and astronautics. Several said family role models or religious beliefs were helping to shape their educational and career goals. If anything, the Times concluded, the tough economy seems to have gotten the students to think in more practical terms about their goals over the next few years.
